Uranverein is German for uranium association.

Music is all samples then it is mixed via many dsp effects to give it the sound i wanted, i will post more up when I finish polishing them. Most of the first track was made using samples from a running refrigerator and air conditioner as well as electric piano.

My new computer came Friday and a 23 inch LCD, the cooling system is amazing, only reaching 37 degrees max. The fans on the radiator are very quiet even under heavy load. Has a 350 watt external power supply only uses about 220 peak, it is very efficient. The 2 GPUS that are in sli mode can be turned off in favor for the decent on board gpu when not using games. All GPU's including the onboard unit are cuda capable.

The 2 blocks behind the cpu are the liquid blocks for the GPU's the entire system is cooled with a no maintenance liquid solution.

getting my studio setup, this is what i have setup so far:

I ended up buying 2 900A netbooks at a local best buy that had them clearance at $199.99 each, which was an awesome deal so I could not pass it up.

The 900A is a very interesting model, it is basically a cross between a 900 and a 901. The specs are as follows:

Linux OS
Atom N270 1.6 ghz
4400mAh battery (but its not the same as the 900 battery)
Intel GMA 950 graphics
1GB of ram
4GB SSD (removable and upgradable, no on board flash)
3 USB 2.0 ports
wireless G
No camera or BT

The build quality of the 900a is good, glossy plastic on the lid and mat plastic other places. The glossy plastic does not seems very scratch prone. Build tolerances are good and the keyboard feels better than the 700 series and on par with the 900 series. Touch pad is ok but has some response issues everyone and a while. Like the 900 series the multi touch works well for scrolling.

The default Linux operating system exhibits issues when writes are being done to the flash that music drops out when being played from USB or internal flash. I have noticed this with all EEE pc models that only have the slower flash memory as the primary drive. One model I installed easy peasy (ubuntu eee) and have yet to try if it still has this issue. I have been able to duplicate this on a 900 16gb model and the 900 4gb target model. Audio issues are gone windows windows xp.

The flash drive is very slow with write performance, bringing the system down to it knees with any writes (eg: logs, swap, etc...). I opted to put XP on one of the systems and disabled the swap file, fire fox cache, and system restore to get acceptable speeds. Given the flash is on a pci express card I am opting to upgrade this at a later time with results I will post.

Most application that run from memory are very zippy, even more so than the celeron based eee's. For the most part it works great, some apps kill it, like 720p video.

Battery life is very good given it is the smaller available battery, using the cpu throttling setting at power save I get about 3.5 hours. Heat output is also very low compared to celeron based models with the fan almost never engaging in most of my uses.

LCD brightness without tweaks is good, contrast ratio is decent, light leakage is average. Light leakage is noticeable at all brightness levels on dark scenes and is consistent on all 900 series i have tested. Color performance is average but not bad, the screen does have a bit of a screen door affect though. No dead pixels out of the box on either units (asus has decent quality control i guess ^^)

Pros:

-EEE PC size, not much bigger than a 700 series
-good battery life even with smaller batteries
-low heat
-Atom Processor
-Can be had for 200 USD
-Flash for shock resistance
-Good build quality for the price
-Upgradable ram and flash (not on board)

Cons:
-Slow flash, you need to change your os settings around this
-Slow flash causes strange audio issues in Linux
-Non standard battery (not the same as used in the 900 or 901)
-LCD has issues, but not a deal breaker

so i have 2 new eee pc's , i have played with them some time and the cpu is actually very nice. Almost no heat is put out by the unit compared to the celeron chip. I have named one ichigo, so i need to make a decal for him ^^. Ichigo was the name of my old single processor Athlon 64 server, yet it has since gone unused. I need to name the other one but i have yet to....

Got 2 of these over the weekend at $199 each on clearance, slow as hell 4gb ssd but it can be upgraded... 1.6ghz atom processor, 1gb of ram... very good deal ^^

so through the zune network I found Die Toten Hosen, a German punk band (nothing like pop punk just fyi). They were recommended on the Wizo page which is a gay German punk band, so i am like ok they could be good. The shit is most awesome, also figured out the Zune is gapless by listening to this album so no pauses between tracks as with many other players.

Got 2 Zunes, one for my self and one for my roommate, have a subscription for $15 a month unlimited use for up to 3 players to download music... it is most awesome and the social network is nice! Lets see your ipod give you 10 drm free downloads and unlimited month of music for $15 a month ^^... Also lots of indie music is available which is a plus. The Player itself has pronominal audio quality and can easy drive a pair of Sennheiser HD-595, another thing an ipod can not. I tried a i pod touch not to long ago, frequency roll off is horrible, zune has very little roll off and sound about as good as my clip or cowon D2! Also you can download the tracks on the player via wifi from the unlimited service without connecting to a computer. Built quality of the device is nice, metal and watch grade scratch resistant glass for the lcd cover.

So i had a PS3 a bit after launch but returned it because the game selection that was destined look like trash, after lots of RPG's and pretty games were slated for a 360 release anyway. So out comes Valkyria Chronicles, which look awesome. I went Monday night to Target to pick up a PS3 as they had it for normal retail price and a $40 gift card...

Had to pick up a HDMI cable and found one for $20... HDMI cables are not worth more than that for a 1 meter cable. Monster cable crap is just over marketed low quality stuff not worth the price, and HDMI is digital with lots of error correction even a cheap cable will give you the same video quality as long as it meats specification...

So other than the console and the HDMI cable, I ended up getting 3 games and an additional Dual Shock 3 controller. I got a Naurto fighting game which looks and plays good. Picked up eternal sonata for the PS3 even though i have it for the 360, it has added costumes and more story plus an additional hottie you can play. Valkyria Chronicles was what sold me the console, it is the most amazing game I have played in some year, regardless of genre or system. If you own a PS3 or are thinking of getting one, get Valkyria Chronicles asap ! Valkyria Chronicles is possible the most beautiful game I think I have seen as well besides possible eternal sonata!

So that said the wii is being disconnected from my main tv, the games flat out suck anymore... Nintendo could give a flying fuck about the core gamer in favorite oh sniveling little shits and their soccer mom... That said i will stick with the DS only from those ass wipes... WTF it is 2008 i want hd gaming not waves a piece a plastic around...

This Friday season 3 of the IT crowd starts, so I am very excited !!!

So I am almost done with my living room setup, the only 2 things I need to add is a PS3 and a power amp for the stereo speakers. The power amp is to replace the generic stereo integrated amp that is powering them at the moment... It is currently on it's way from Italy ^^.

Sound Blaster X-fi usb 5.1 connected to stereo receiver via RCA and surround sound receiver via optical

Toshiba 37inch LCD 1080p with dynamic back light, 4hdmi inputs (connected to pc via hdmi at 1920X1080)

Xbox 360 60 GB connected to tv via hdmi and receiver via tos link optical

Onkyo 7.1 receiver with hdmi audio and auto room calibration (calibrates the room using a supplied microphone), came with ipod dock which i gladly threw away

Onkyo speakers 7 total and matching sub woofer which on minimum setting is very powerful

I use the surround sound system for movies and games, the other speakers and sub woofer you see are for music only

Polk monitor 60 speakers (4 driver a piece), Polk psw10 sub woofer, Sherwood stereo integrated amp

I came into work this morning wanting a change for my desktop as I had Hitsugaya on it for months, well in the end i just picked a new Hitsugaya wallpaper. Why, because he is the uber cuteness that helps me get through my day without having to strangle someone.

Well I picked up a xbox 360 tonight, it was free because I got a $500 best buy gift card for a "misunderstanding"



also i got tales, and orange box as well as vegas which one of my 360's scratched... and a pair of on sale blue tooth headphones for my p2, they sound good, i have the same pair i use at work.

Also got the hdmi adapter because i need the optical out for the surround sound, a extra controller for my room mate, and the battery kit with extra battery / quick charger.
